Brain-time!

An unexpected encounter with a problem can happen in the life of every person.

In order not to get confused and take control of the situation, you need to have some knowledge.

For example, the following algorithm can be used to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

The FAST stroke scale is a simple and effective way to recognize the signs of a stroke quickly. The acronym FAST stands for:

1. Face: Ask the person to smile. Check if one side of the face droops or appears uneven. Facial asymmetry can be an indicator of a stroke.

2. Arms: Ask the person to raise both arms. Observe if one arm drifts downward or cannot be lifted. Arm weakness or inability to lift one arm is a common sign of stroke.

3. Speech: Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Listen for slurred or strange speech. Difficulty in speaking or understanding speech can indicate a stroke.

4. Time: If any of these signs are present, it’s critical to call emergency services immediately. Time is of the essence when dealing with a stroke, and faster treatment can lead to better recovery outcomes.

Recognizing these symptoms and acting fast can significantly affect the treatment and recovery process for someone experiencing a stroke. If you suspect a stroke, do not wait—seek emergency medical help immediately.
